About Katie.
Katie DeWerdt / Cherry is a mother of three beautiful children. Many years ago, as she was mastering the family recipes that her children adore, she started writing down their favorite recipes so as to immortalize the recipes for their future enjoyment and nostalgia. Katie Cooks for You with Love essentially took nearly 15 years to compile over time. This started the publishing journey that led to more written work. Katie completed degrees which include an Associates in Arts, a Bachelors in Science, a Master’s in Science and a Certificate Degree in Website Development. Katie is CHESr – which is Certified Health Education Specialist and a LNHA – which is Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (Since 2007 and current). Katie has spent 18 years of her career as a Nursing Home Administrator. In that time it became evident the need for a guide to help families with decisions regarding Power of Attorney and Guardianship – hence the third book on Power of Attorney and Guardianship. All the books Katie publishes are aimed at helping persons in those areas. Future works will include a personal memoir including both professional and career hurdles. Her daughter Elora states, “Mom always dealt her whole life with other people’s problems and did it with grace and compassion.” Katie’s second book is aimed at helping those who seek a divorce and need economical options to do so – this was spurred by a conversation she had on an airplane with a woman overseeing a homeless shelter. The woman identified this as a problem for people without financial means -that they were sometimes stuck in these marriages with no means to allow for divorce. Ultimately, Katie’s whole life is devoted to helping her children first and then other persons of need. Hence, so many years as a nursing home administrator.
